Classes

Thanks to our small town location, our classes are generally quite small, allowing ample individual instruction and guidance.

New Classes for the Fall of 2008 are listed in the newsletter.  They include Beginning Quilting, Rag Quilts, One Block Wonder, Joy the Angel Tree skirt, and Hip to Be Square Quilt.

We are also starting Bernina Club which will meet the 2nd Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m.  This is a free club, which will feature a project each month.  No need to bring a sewing machine.  Handouts will be given.  What you can bring is Show and Tell - we love to see your projects.  You DO NOT need to be a Bernina owner to come, just someone with interest in quilting or sewing.  Coffee pot will be on each meeting.  All are welcome!

If there are classes you would like to have offered, please let us know.  We would like a minimum of 4 students for a class.

Block of the Month

Our Block of the Month program varies from year to year. With so much to choose, why be bored?

The first Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m. we host a mini-class with piecing tips, new products, and show and tell.

Our customers have really improved their piecing skills by using the helpful tips they learn in this class.

Previous Events

We were a founding member of the Heart of Iowa Shop Hop in June 2005 and have participated annually since then. This year six friendly small town shops welcomed you for food, fabric and fun. Quilters who got stamps at all six shops competed for valuable Gift Certificates as well as gift basket drawings at each shop.

The Grand Prize winner for 2008 Heart of Iowa Shop Hop was Helen Sorensen.  The door prize winner for Prairie Rose Quilts & Bernina Too was Renee Stonebrook.  This year we also awarded six jellyrolls and charms packs per shop to customers who shopped with us.

Our fourth Quilters' Retreat was held in two sessions during February 2008 with 40 pampered quilters enjoying a mid-winter break at the cozy Comfort Inn in Story City, Iowa, just off I-35. All meals and soda were part of the package, with comfortable rooms, plush beds, the pool, the spa and much laughter and sharing. No bunks, no mess hall, no husbands and no kids!

Look for more information in coming months on the Quilters' Retreat scheduled for February 2009.
